The 112 Tournament makes its debut in 2026 – a fast-paced, innovative addition to the Rugby Fives calendar. This unique format celebrates versatility and partnership.

  Mixed Doubles Pairs enter together.

  – Each player competes in Men’s/Women’s Singles. 7-point games

  – The pair will then join forces in Mixed Doubles.

The high-intensity schedule ensures quick-fire matches and will crown the ultimate Rugby Fives all-rounders.

Match report: The new 112 tournament featured a round‑robin format across women’s singles (one game to 7), men’s singles (one game to 7), and mixed doubles (one game to 15). Final standings were decided by combining each pair’s singles and doubles scores. With such short games, players had to find their rhythm immediately and show consistent quality in both singles and doubles.

With six pairs competing, a total of 145 points were available. Gold medalists Shinan Zhang and Penn Chai earned every single potential point in a commanding performance. Savanna Leboff and Sam Russell claimed the silver medals with 116 points, narrowly edging out Phoebe Thornhill and Terry McElvaney, who took bronze just four points behind.

Overall, it was a day of competitive and hugely enjoyable fives, rounded off with a well‑earned meal. The success of the event suggests the 112 is set to become a regular fixture on the RFA calendar.

A big thank you to Hamish Buchanan for coming up with the 112 format and to Andrew Boyd and Savanna Leboff for bringing the tournament to life!
