STOP PRESS In a field of 14 James Toop, 6-time National Singles Champion, always looked the man to beat — and to learn from. It was a particularly good weekend for James, who also won the Plate with Gwydion Wiseman at the National Doubles Championship the day before.
There were several young players from Alleyn’s involved in this first Challenger event of the year, and it was good to see that two of them, Thomas Green and Fred McAllister, played out a close final in the Plate.
