Doug Tidy began playing Fives at Merchiston Castle School and progressed to winning the Edinburgh Schools Open Singles and Doubles titles twice each. He moved on to Loughborough University and joined the nearby Derby Moor Fives Club. A right-hander, in 2021 Doug won the Durham University Invitation Doubles Tournament with Camille Beattie.
