STOP PRESS Camille Beattie made it 3 in a row in beating 4-time champion Louise Mathias in the very hard fought final of the Women’s National Singles Championship. In the early rounds most victories were relatively comfortable with the exception of a mighty 3-game tussle between Maddy Raynor and Savanna Leboff. The four quarter-finals may well rank as being of the highest quality we have yet seen at that stage of this event, the eight players boasting a large number of singles and doubles titles between them. Camille Beattie cruised through her semi-final when the Women’s National U25 champion, Kirsten Bell, was forced to retire after one game with an arm injury, but Louise Mathias had more of a test in her semi-final match with her doubles partner, Shinan Zhang. Serin Hartopp won the Plate.

In the Doubles Louise Mathias & Shinan Zhang notched up their fifth title together, Shinan’s seventh in a row. In the Plate Phoebe Thornhill & Eleonora Vallascas won all their matches to take the trophy comfortably and deservedly.
