Third Basque Rugby Fives Championship

The RFA is delighted to report the latest in a series of competitions held in the Basque Country: the third Basque Rugby Fives Championship.
The tournament was contested at the San Ignazio Municipal Sports Centre in Bilbao on 27th March, with six players participating. Early matches were decided by time, rather than by one player scoring a specific number of points.
After an initial knockout round, the subsequent games led to a final between Egoitz Campo and Alain Ibanez de Opakua, with the former emerging victorious. Not only was this his third win in the event, he remains the only person ever to win it.
After the success of this event, a doubles tournament is planned for July or August.
