STOP PRESS 10 players fought out the first Challenger of the season, played on the courts of the Manchester Y Club. Two round robins produced semi-finals for 4 players while the remaining 6 contested the Plate.
The semi-finals produced very hard fought matches in which former Schools Open Champion Taylor McGuire beat home player Marco Skogh in two close games, while Christ’s Hospital number one Charlie Lacewing battled over three games to beat Executioner Terry McElvaney. Charlie and Taylor then engaged in an impressively close fought final consisting of three games, with Charlie emerging a commendable winner.
