National Doubles Championship

Alleyn’s School, Dulwich, Sat/Sun April 14/15th

Organiser Hamish Buchanan is now accepting entries for the 2018 National Doubles Championship, which will be held at Alleyn’s School two weeks after Easter.

However, rather than publishing a physical entry form for players to fill in and return, Hamish is running the event through a dedicated website, which you can reach by clicking on this link.

The deadline for entering the tournament is Tuesday April 10th, but – and it’s a big BUT – if you want to buy one of the unique-to-this-event commemorative T-shirts, you must enter by Thursday March 22nd.

As yet, the design of shirt is a mystery, but it will come from the idiosyncratic mind of Dan Grant; and, for some idea of what to expect, take a look at the equivalent shirt from last year’s event, as modelled by two of the players below. Further details are on the event’s website.

As you’ll see, the tournament will use the G6 ball, and all matches in the main draw will be the best of three games to 15. There will also be a plate competition for early-round losers, but the format of that will be decided on the day.

Entry costs £20 per pair, but if you don’t have a partner, you can still enter and the organiser will do his best to find you a suitable partner.
