SOUTH EAST OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Christ’s Hospital, Horsham, August 22nd/23rd 2015
Following a successful first running of the event last year, organiser Ed hatton is now accepting entries for the 2015 South East Open Championships. To be held at Christ’s Hospital School, near Horsham, over the weekend of August 22nd/23rd, the event will include singles and doubles championships, played on the Saturday and Sunday, respectively, and both with Plate competitions.
Whereas the singles will follow a standard tournament format, the doubles will be played in a ‘handicap’ system like the Scottish Open. Players enter the doubles tournament as individuals, and then the organiser will pair up the competitors, meaning the strongest players will play with the weakest, and the mid-ranked players partnered together.
Last year, the event attracted plenty of players who weren’t regulars on the tournament circuit, and this year again the organiser will welcome players of all ages and abilities.
As if that wasn’t already enough incentive to enter, a running buffet will operate all weekend, while the cafe in the nearby Sports Centre will also be open for much of the time.
The closing date for entries is Monday August 10th, and full details will be sent out to competitors in the week beginning August 17th.
