Organiser Hamish Buchanan reports an excellent and record-breaking President’s Cup, held once more on the courts of Marlborough College. The entry comprised the youngest 32 players of the last 30+ years, so almost certainly ever. It was the youngest final ever, with an average age of around 20. All four winners were mixed pairs; the main final and the Love Mug had two mixed pairs. Helena Tunks is the second woman to win the President’s Cup — after Martha Nugent in 2018. Abbie Evans and Maddi Gibson (with separate partners) won trophies in their first ever RFA  tournament. There was a full complement of 32 players, with seven from the Marlborough Town Club; two players were drafted in at less than 2 hours’ notice after the snow halted two coming from the west. The trophy was resplendent on its new base, and there were new engraved crystal tumblers for the winners., who were as follows:

The President’s Cup: Helena Tunks & Gwydion Wiseman beat Martha Nugent & Marcus Cloke Browne.
The Mate’s Plate: Louise Mathias & Laurence Cook beat Bruce Hanton & Simon Hendry.
The Love Mug: Maddi Gibson & Ben Chua beat Savanna Leboff & Lewis Keates.
The T-Pot: Abbie Evans & Tom Watkinson beat Richard Christie & Sarthak Garella.

Also played: Will Bishop & Chris Davey; Joe Garratt & Ed Crichton; Tim Bury & Charlie Lacewing; Ollie Arnold & Julie McIntyre; Harvey Bishop & Alex Dorokhov; Toby Bury & Stuart Scott; Alex Smith & Nick Whitney; Tim Hebblethwaite & Adam Piekos.
