OFFICIAL RFA RANKINGS

London, July 5th 2015

There will be doubtless be dancing on the streets of West London – and perhaps some parts of Brazil – tonight, as the official RFA rankings (prepared by Dave Hebden) have confirmed that Dan Tristao ended the 2014/15 season on top of both the singles and doubles rankings.

Mind you, it could literally could not have been closer between Dan and the other player who has been dominating championships over the last couple of years, Will Ellison. In the singles, for example, Dan was only 0.1 points ahead, while the difference was just 0.6 in the doubles.

In both sets of rankings, Dan Grant ended up in third position, and these three are now creating something of a gap between themselves and the chasing pack. In the singles rankings, fourth-placed James Toop is more than 25 points adrift of the man ahead of him, while only two other players are within 10 points of third place in the doubles rankings.

The biggest riser in the last 12 months has been Cambridge student Ben Beltrami, who’s now jumped into the Top 10 in both singles and doubles. Also new in the singles Top 10 are David Butler and Richie Murby, while Ed Kay jumps five places to fourth in the doubles, and his fellow Light Blue Matt Shaw fills the final place in the top 10 doubles list.

However, perhaps the most notable newcomer in either list sits proudly at equal 65th in the doubles rankings. That may not sound that remarkable, but courtesy of a typically gutsy performance in the South West Open, Alexandra Steel has made history by becoming the only woman ever to feature in the national rankings.
